One of the most promising young bands, The Exploding Hearts literally went by in a flash.

The group released its excellent debut album, Guitar Romantic, in early 2003, a mix of 60s-style garage rock, vintage 70s pop, and influences from 80s punk and British rock.

Guitar Romantic was well received by both critics and the punk community.

In July 2003, however, fate struck in the form of a tragic accident that took the lives of band members Adam Cox, Matt Fitzgerald, and Jeremy Gage.

Modern Kicks is one of Guitar Romantic‘s best tracks and perfectly exemplifies what makes this band‘s music so infectious.

On the surface it may seem blatantly retro, but The Exploding Hearts have made an album that is no exaggeration to call ageless.
