When we talk about the Black Mirror series, we are talking about something that took TV series to another level, a series that created a genre apart, a new genre.
Raw, violent, idealistic, pessimistic, realistic and we can go on adding adjectives.
From the very beginning it presented itself with a very high level of quality, not easy to pursue consistently, as in some seasons.
Now Netflix is airing the sixth season and obviously expectations are high.
The season is made up of five episodes, five different stories as the series‘costume.
Obviously everything as it should be is subjective, but, something about the magic of this series always breaks.
The first episode Joan is aweful is definitely the most successful, the most innovative. The one in full Black Mirror style.
The second episode Beyond the sea puts it slightly below. It remains a good episode with a topical theme, but it is very heavy due to its length and perhaps the absence of deeper dialogue.
The other three episodes certainly have interesting ideas, but they sound like songs thrown into an album as filler.
Not very introspective and with developments that descend into banality.
I definitely recommend watching the first episode.
